Nairobi, Kenya, October 18- President William Ruto has nominated Prof. Kithure Kindiki to succeed the impeached Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua. The announcement was made on Friday morning by Speaker Moses Wetangula, who delivered the communication to the National Assembly.

“Under Standing Order 42(1), I hereby inform the House that this morning I received a message from the President regarding the nomination of Kithure Kindiki to fill the vacancy in the Office of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, following the impeachment of the previous office holder,” Wetangula stated.

Prof. Kindiki, currently serving as Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, must now secure the approval of the National Assembly before stepping into the role. The Assembly has up to 60 days to vote on his nomination.
