Nairobi, Kenya, November 21- In his second State of the Nation Address at Parliament today, President William Ruto announced the cancellation of all agreements with India’s Adani Group. This decision comes in the wake of U.S. charges against Gautam Adani and his associates for a multi-billion-dollar fraud scheme involving bribery and corruption in India.
Adani Group had been involved in controversial projects in Kenya, including plans to modernize Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) through a 30-year concession. The deals faced public criticism, with concerns over transparency and potential job losses for Kenyan workers.
Ruto’s announcement signals a move to distance his administration from the scandal-plagued conglomerate, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to accountability in foreign partnerships.
