Nairobi, Kenya, January 15- Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has alleged that his son, Leslie Muturi, was abducted and later released by National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers. In a detailed police statement recorded on January 14, 2025, Muturi recounted the events surrounding the incident, which occurred on June 22, 2024, in Nairobi.

Muturi revealed that armed, hooded men intercepted his son along Dennis Pritt Road as he returned from an outing with friends. According to Hon. Mark Mwenje, who was with Leslie that evening, the abductors forced him into a white Prado and drove off. Attempts to contact Leslie’s phone proved futile, and Muturi immediately sought assistance from various officials, including the Inspector General of Police, Raymond Omollo, the PS for Interior, and the Director of Criminal Investigations.

Despite assurances from officials that no police operation was underway, CCTV footage obtained later revealed vehicles trailing Leslie and his friends before the abduction. Muturi noted that several government agencies were initially unresponsive, adding to the uncertainty.

By the following morning, Muturi received information from an NIS officer confirming that Leslie was being held by the agency. After further efforts to contact officials proved unsuccessful, Muturi escalated the matter to President William Ruto during a meeting at State House.

The President, upon hearing the details, directly contacted NIS Director General Noordin Haji, who admitted to holding Leslie. Following the President’s directive, Leslie was released within an hour.

Muturi expressed relief at his son’s safe return but raised concerns about the lack of coordination and transparency during the ordeal.
