Nairobi, July 25- The High Court has directed Mugithi star and police officer Samuel Muchoki, known as Samidoh, to surrender his passport following accusations by the National Police Service (NPS) of abandoning his duties.
In a ruling on Friday, July 25, the court also granted him anticipatory bail of Ksh 200,000 and barred his arrest.
Samidoh is currently in the U.S. on a music tour. He recently performed at the Ngemi Cia Ruraya Kikuyu cultural festival in Seattle, attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas. He also shared photos and videos online of his performances and time abroad.
In June, NPS ordered his arrest, saying he failed to report to his new post at the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Gilgil after his leave ended on May 27, 2025. A police report stated efforts to locate him were unsuccessful, and he was officially declared a deserter on June 6.
The order followed a controversial performance where crowds chanted anti-government slogans especially “Wantam,” suggesting President Ruto should serve only one term. Samidoh was seen encouraging the chants, which reportedly violated Police Service rules and sparked disciplinary action.
