Nairobi, October 3 –The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has rescheduled its 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, moving the event from October to mid-November to give more regions across the country a chance to participate.

In a statement on Friday, ODM@20 Planning Committee Chair and National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed said the shift was agreed upon after consultations with party leader Raila Odinga at Serena Hotel.

Originally planned for October 10–12 in Mombasa, the celebrations will now take place from November 14–16, 2025.

Junet explained that the adjustment was made following requests from counties that have not yet hosted ODM@20 activities, with members urging greater inclusivity so that supporters outside Mombasa could also take part.

“So far, the celebrations have been held in Busia, Wajir, Kisii, and Narok, but other regions have asked us to extend the activities to their areas as well,” he noted.

Ahead of the Mombasa finale, ODM has lined up a series of regional events, including a soccer tournament on October 9–10, festivities in Kajiado on October 15, Turkana on October 26, Kilifi (Magarini) on November 2, and Nairobi on November 9.

Junet stressed that the postponement was a strategic move to enhance participation and unity, not a setback.

“We assure our members, supporters, and the public that this change is aimed at strengthening outreach, deepening inclusivity, and ensuring that this historic milestone is celebrated by all Kenyans,” he said.
