Nairobi, October 6- A 41-year-old woman, Anna Nekesa Kisaka, was arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) while attempting to smuggle cocaine to Dubai. Detectives from the DCI’s Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) intercepted her after a body scan revealed foreign objects concealed inside her body.

Kisaka was placed under medical observation, during which she excreted three cocaine-filled pellets. The DCI later confirmed the arrest, stating:

“Detectives from the DCI’s Anti-Narcotics Unit have arrested Anna Nekesa Kisaka, 41, at JKIA for trafficking narcotics. She was intercepted after a body scan confirmed she had ingested cocaine pellets.”

Ingesting drugs is an extremely risky smuggling method, as ruptured pellets can cause fatal overdoses. The recovered pellets have been taken as evidence as investigations continue to trace the larger trafficking network involved.

JKIA remains a key target for international drug syndicates. In similar past incidents, Wendy Mbeke Muli was arrested in 2025 for attempting to smuggle 626 grams of cocaine in eight pellets, while Macharia Margaret Nduta was caught in 2023 with over two kilos of cocaine hidden in luggage.

Ms Kisaka is now in police custody and faces serious drug trafficking charges.
