Nairobi, November 7- The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has raised alarm over escalating violence in Kasipul Constituency ahead of the November 27 by-election.

In a statement issued Thursday, the party condemned an attack on a voter engagement meeting held by its candidate, Hon. Boyd Were. According to ODM, the event was disrupted by individuals allegedly associated with a rival candidate, who invaded the venue, destroyed property, and put residents at risk.

The party added that the violence has already led to deaths and has heightened fear in the community.

“This is not an isolated case. During a recent women’s empowerment event in Sikri, cars belonging to our supporters were vandalised and several women were assaulted,” ODM stated.

ODM stressed that despite ongoing provocation, it has remained committed to peaceful campaigning and dialogue.

“We want to be clear: ODM will not be bullied. The people of Kasipul must be allowed to elect their leader without intimidation or threats,” the statement read.

The party called on security agencies to urgently arrest both the attackers and those financing the violence. It also urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to guarantee fairness for all candidates.

ODM further appealed to all contenders to show restraint and avoid inciting conflict. The party also encouraged its supporters to stay calm and uphold peace throughout the campaign period.

“ODM remains dedicated to conducting peaceful campaigns and respecting the democratic will of the people,” said National Chairperson H.E. Gladys Nyasuna Wanga, who signed the statement issued from Chungwa House in Nairobi on November 7, 2025.

The statement highlights ongoing security concerns in Kasipul as the constituency prepares for the upcoming by-election.
