Nairobi, November 18- A man posing as a senior Kenya Defence Forces officer has been arrested in Nairobi’s Kilimani area after allegedly conning several young people with fake recruitment promises. The suspect, identified as Joshua Mutui Muimi, is accused of masquerading as a KDF brigadier and issuing forged admission letters to hopeful recruits.

Detectives from the DCI’s Parklands office raided his apartment, where they found him fully dressed in a Kenya Air Force uniform. Inside the house, officers recovered multiple fake recruitment documents, including six forged admission letters that all carried the same serial number, seven completed fingerprint forms and other papers bearing Ministry of Defence markings. Investigators also found additional material suggesting he had created an elaborate scheme to make his operation appear authentic.

Police believe Muimi targeted young men desperate to join the military, collecting money from them with the promise of guaranteed entry into the Recruits Training School in Eldoret.

He was taken into custody as detectives continue analysing the evidence before presenting him in court. Authorities have since urged Kenyans to remain vigilant, warning that genuine KDF recruitment is transparent, free of charge and never conducted through unofficial channels or individual intermediaries.
