Nairobi, November 24- The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leadership has moved to clarify that the party will officially support the ODM candidate in the upcoming Kasipul by-election, saying the decision is meant to reinforce the broad-based government partnership.
Speaking at a church fundraiser in Nyalieng’a, Homa Bay County, Senate Majority Leader Aron Cheruiyot distanced the party from local UDA officials who recently endorsed independent candidate Philip Aroko, stressing that their stance was personal and does not represent UDA’s position.
ODM national chairperson Gladys Wanga echoed the commitment to the broad-based government, emphasizing that the party has no intention of returning to the opposition and that cooperation between the two sides remains strong ahead of the vote.
At the same event, Homa Bay Town MP Peter Opondo Kaluma accused police of intimidating the ODM candidate during campaigns and called on security agencies to remain neutral and guarantee a fair process as Kasipul heads to the polls.
