Nairobi, December 1-The family of Beryl Lilian Achieng Odinga, sister to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has confirmed she will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 6, at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.
Raila Odinga Junior announced the burial plans, noting the family had met and agreed on the final resting place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, at Consolata Shrine in Westlands.
On Sunday, the Odinga family appealed for financial support to help cover funeral expenses. Raila Junior said the burial decision was made with guidance from his uncle, Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga.
Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, chosen for its deep historical and personal significance, is closely linked to the legacy of Beryl’s father, the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Kenya’s first Vice President.
Raila Junior described his aunt as a woman of strength and quiet influence whose life touched many. Beryl died on November 25, 2025, at a Nairobi hospital at the age of 78 after a long illness.
Though part of a prominent political family, she lived a private life and pursued professional achievements in both Kenya and Zimbabwe. She was the fourth-born in the Odinga family and was married to the late Otieno Ambala, a former Gem MP.
Family members, including Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, have been actively involved in the funeral arrangements, with Senator Oburu Oginga returning from Dubai on November 28 to support the process.
