Nairobi, January 21- Police in Nairobi have arrested several TikTok content creators following complaints from members of the public over harassment incidents in Eastleigh and surrounding areas. The arrests were carried out by officers from Pangani Police Station after residents raised concerns about videos being recorded on busy streets without consent.

According to police reports, the content creators were approaching unsuspecting pedestrians, mainly women and young girls, while filming social media content. The incidents were reported along major streets, including General Wariungi Street, where the creators allegedly made physical contact with passers-by or startled them in the process of capturing viral videos.

Residents from Eastleigh, Pangani, Kariokor and Muthaiga reported that the actions went beyond entertainment and amounted to harassment and intimidation. Some victims said they were filmed without their knowledge or permission, with the videos later shared online.

The suspects were taken into custody and are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to public harassment and recording individuals without consent.

The incident has sparked public debate, with many social media users and content creators condemning the behaviour. Critics argue that the pursuit of online popularity should not compromise public safety, privacy or dignity.
