Nairobi, September 25- The High Court has ordered the forfeiture of assets worth Sh426.85 million linked to former Kilifi Principal Land Registrar Felix Mecha Nyakundi, his wife Stellah Nyaboke Otwori and companies associated with the family.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) said the order followed a judgment delivered by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Court on September 18, 2026.
Justice Benjamin Musyoki found that Nyakundi and his associates had failed to satisfactorily explain the difference between the value of assets they acquired and their known legitimate income.
The assets include Sh233.58 million held in bank accounts and M-Pesa, properties valued at Sh177.11 million, motor vehicles worth Sh11.9 million and Sh4.26 million in cash recovered during a search.
Among the properties are Bantu Hotel along Kangundo Road in Nairobi, valued at Sh107.7 million, the Saro Wiwa apartment block in Utawala worth Sh35 million, a Mombasa penthouse valued at Sh19 million and several parcels of land in Kilifi and Thika.
The EACC said investigations established that the family acquired assets worth Sh771.89 million between January 2013 and March 2024, but only accounted for Sh58.17 million.
The Commission said Nyakundi’s monthly gross salary during the period ranged from Sh69,660 to Sh115,630.
The forfeited assets will be recovered by the Government of Kenya following the court’s decision.
