Nairobi, Nairobi 29- The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has suspended the tender for the supply and delivery of ballot papers and other election materials pending the outcome of a procurement review.
Acting IEBC Commission Secretary and CEO Ruth Kulundu said the suspension followed a request for review filed before the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board (PPARB).
The tender covers ballot papers, tactile folders, the register of voters and statutory election results declaration forms.
IEBC has not revealed the identity of the party that lodged the review request or the specific issues raised against the tender. The commission has also not provided a new date for resuming the procurement process.
The development comes as the electoral agency steps up preparations for the 2027 General Election. The suspension could affect the procurement and preparation of election materials, which require production, verification, transportation and distribution ahead of polling day.
Prospective bidders have been advised to monitor the IEBC website and the Public Procurement Information Portal for further communication on the tender.
The ballot paper tender is among several election-related procurement processes that have faced reviews and legal challenges in recent weeks.
