Nairobi, October 14- Former Kenyan television journalist Esther Arunga has officially dropped the surname Timberlake and reverted to her former name, Esther Adongo Arunga, following a formal name change published in the Kenya Gazette on October 9, 2026.

The notice confirms that the change was formalised through a deed poll dated October 2, 2026, and registered at the Registry of Documents in Nairobi. It does not, however, disclose the reasons behind her decision.

Arunga adopted the Timberlake surname in 2010 after marrying Quincy Timberlake. She previously worked at Capital FM and KTN before relocating to Australia with her husband.

Her life later attracted public attention following the 2014 death of their three-year-old son, Sinclair. In 2019, Arunga was sentenced to 10 months in prison after pleading guilty to being an accessory to the offence. Timberlake was sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2023 after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

The latest name change marks Arunga’s return to her former identity, although the Gazette notice does not indicate whether it is linked to changes in her personal circumstances.
