Nairobi, Kenya, January 16- The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has approved three nominees to join President William Ruto’s Cabinet. William Kabogo has been nominated to lead the ICT Ministry, Mutahi Kagwe to head Agriculture, and former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to oversee the Investment and Trade docket.
This approval clears the way for parliamentary debate before the names are formally submitted to President Ruto for appointment.
Currently, the ICT Ministry is under the interim leadership of Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, the Agriculture docket is temporarily managed by Environment CS Aden Duale, and Salim Mvurya, the CS for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, is acting as Trade CS.
President Ruto announced new cabinet nominations and reshuffles on December 19, 2024, which also included changes in state corporations and appointments to Kenya’s foreign missions.
According to its report, the 20-member committee highlighted that the three nominees displayed a solid understanding of administrative, technical, and topical issues relevant to their dockets, as well as the qualifications, skills, and experience required for approval.
