Nairobi, February 6- Former U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday aiming to bar transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports, marking another policy move affecting transgender individuals since his return to office.

“From now on, women’s sports will be exclusively for women,” Trump declared before signing the order at the White House, surrounded by young athletes and supporters.

He further stated, “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over.”

Among the attendees were prominent Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who applauded Trump’s remarks.

“We will protect the legacy of female athletes and ensure that men do not dominate, harm, or unfairly compete against our women and girls,” Trump asserted, receiving cheers from the audience.

The order authorizes U.S. government agencies to withhold funding from schools that permit transgender athletes to participate in women’s sports teams.
