Nairobi, February 7- Veteran broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela has passed away at the age of 84.

According to reports, Mbotela, renowned for his iconic Jee Huu ni Ungwana TV segment, died on Friday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m., with his family confirming the news.

Mbotela enjoyed a distinguished career in Kenyan media, earning widespread admiration for his ability to engage audiences across generations.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, and three children: Aida, Jimmy, and George.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Freetown, Mombasa, he was the eldest of eight children.

His parents were the late James and Aida Mbotela:

His father was a teacher who taught at various schools, including Shimo La Tewa High School and Kabianga High School, before retiring as an education officer.

His mother was involved with Maendeleo ya Wanawake.

From a young age, he was passionate about broadcasting and enjoyed engaging with people from different backgrounds.

He attended Kitui High School for his secondary education, completing it in 1962.

He began his journalism career as a trainee reporter at The Standard in Nakuru.
