Nairobi, February 11- This morning, a building near the OTC area along Kirinyaga Road in Nairobi partially collapsed, triggering a swift emergency response. The Kenya Red Cross said a joint rescue effort involving the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade, the National Disaster Operations Centre, the National Police Service, and Red Cross teams successfully pulled six workers who had been trapped under the debris to safety.
All individuals believed to have been inside the structure at the time have since been accounted for, with no reports of anyone still missing. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collapse, and it remains unclear whether the building was under construction or undergoing renovations when the incident occurred.
The collapse happened in a densely populated and busy commercial zone, initially raising concerns about possible higher casualties. Rescue teams secured the site, restricted access around the area, and began safety checks on nearby structures as investigations continue. Officials are expected to provide further updates once assessments are complete.
