Nairobi, Kenya, October 29- Social media personality and activist Maverick Aoko\u2019s recent disappearance has alarmed Kenyans amid a rise in abductions. Known for her outspoken posts on X (formerly Twitter), Aoko has been silent since October 22, when she posted a prayer for protection. Her absence has led to the trending hashtag #FreeAoko, as well as calls for her safe return by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, LSK President Faith Odhiambo urged the public to share any information they might have, stressing, \u201cEvery life counts.\u201d Speaking during activist Boniface Mwangi\u2019s arrest follow-up at Kamukunji Police Station, Odhiambo pleaded for her release, emphasizing that Kenya should not be a place where citizens live \u201cin intimidation or fear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aoko\u2019s family, growing more worried by the day, expressed their desire for her safety, appealing to authorities to release her if she has been detained. \u201cIf they took her, we\u2019re asking that they produce her. If she is hiding, we pray that she is safe and will reach out in any discreet way so we can all have peace of mind,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aoko\u2019s disappearance follows her August charges at Milimani Court for alleged false information, cyber harassment, and misuse of electronic data related to a series of posts directed at \u201cAmber Ray\u201d and \u201cJamal.\u201d She was later released on a Sh100,000 bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
