Nairobi, Kenya, November 18- The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) has joined forces with the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) in demanding greater accountability from the government amid mounting concerns over its management of national issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released Monday, Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit expressed solidarity with the Catholic bishops, praising their recent criticisms of the government as reflective of the hardships faced by ordinary Kenyans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe bishops have spoken the minds of Kenyans and faithfully expressed the truth as things are on the ground,\u201d said Ole Sapit. \u201cNo amount of attacks or intimidation will deter the church from calling out evil and speaking the truth to power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Anglican Church highlighted several areas of concern, including delays in implementing the new university funding model, inefficiencies in public healthcare, escalating taxes, and a rise in abductions and forced disappearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their statement echoes the Catholic Bishops\u2019 earlier criticisms of President William Ruto\u2019s administration. Last week, the KCCB accused the government of fostering a \u201cculture of lies\u201d that erodes transparency and integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bishops underscored pressing issues, such as unpaid debts to essential service providers, rising youth unemployment, and the need for urgent reforms in the education system, particularly regarding the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). They also called for the long-overdue establishment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
