Nairobi, February 3- Beyonc\u00e9 has finally won the highly sought-after \u201cAlbum of the Year\u201d award at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, marking a major milestone in her career. Her eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter<\/em>, which honors the Black origins of country music, earned her the prestigious accolade after years of being overlooked in the category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon hearing her name announced, Beyonc\u00e9 shared a heartfelt moment with her daughter, Blue Ivy, and husband, Jay-Z, before heading to the stage. \u201cI just feel very full and very honored,\u201d she said in her acceptance speech. \u201cIt\u2019s been many, many years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She dedicated the award to Linda Martell, a trailblazer for Black musicians in country music and the first Black woman to perform solo at the Grand Ole Opry. Beyonc\u00e9 expressed hope for continued progress, saying, \u201cI hope we just keep pushing forward [and] opening doors. God bless y\u2019all. Thank you so much.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This win comes 25 years after her first Grammy nomination with Destiny\u2019s Child. Now holding the record for the most Grammy wins in history with 35 awards, this is her first-ever Album of the Year<\/em> victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s groundbreaking album, Cowboy Carter<\/em>, which blends country and Americana, secured her long-awaited win. The album is part of a trilogy exploring American musical traditions while shedding light on the overlooked contributions of Black artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, she becomes the first Black woman to win Album of the Year<\/em> since Lauryn Hill\u2019s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill<\/em> in 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in the evening, Cowboy Carter<\/em> also won Best Country Album<\/em>, an outcome that visibly surprised Beyonc\u00e9. The award was presented by Taylor Swift, who had previously won over Beyonc\u00e9 for Album of the Year<\/em> in 2010. \u201cWow, I really was not expecting this,\u201d Beyonc\u00e9 said, expressing appreciation for the country artists who supported her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
