I mourn for my country,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His comments came after Ruto\u2019s televised interview on vernacular stations ahead of his Mt Kenya tour, during which he defended his decision to sideline Gachagua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ruto claimed that his former deputy had demanded Ksh.10 billion in exchange for political mobilization in the Mt Kenya region\u2014an ultimatum he refused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was told, \u2018Give me Ksh.10 billion to organize the region, or you\u2019ll be a one-term president.\u2019 I declined. If serving only one term is my destiny, so be it,\u201d Ruto stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the political friction, Ruto dismissed concerns over tensions ahead of his visit, which begins today, emphasizing that his focus is on delivering progress updates to voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was elected by Kenyans, including those in Central Kenya.
