In a statement issued Monday, Duale emphasized the government\u2019s commitment to ensuring that all those affected receive the medical care and support they need without financial burden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs a result, I have directed the management of Kenyatta National Hospital to waive all medical bills for patients injured during the protests and charge them to the hospital\u2019s Disaster Emergency Fund,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those included in the waiver is the late Boniface Kariuki, a hawker who was reportedly shot during the protests. At the time of his passing, his outstanding medical bill stood at Ksh 815,805.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement follows widespread protests in Nairobi and other parts of the country on June 17 and 25, 2025, driven largely by youth-led demonstrations against government spending and corruption.
