Nairobi, July 24- People\u2019s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has stated that she is open to working with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on the condition that he breaks ranks with President William Ruto and endorses her presidential bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in an interview on Ramogi FM<\/em>, Karua said she supported Odinga\u2019s past presidential campaigns and now expects him to reciprocate. She criticized his current cooperation with the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying it undermines the aspirations of Kenyan youth who have long championed political change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Karua dismissed what she described as a \u201cbromance\u201d between Odinga and Ruto, asserting that her earlier backing of Odinga was rooted in his previously uncompromising political ideals. However, she revealed they grew apart after he chose to collaborate with Ruto\u2019s government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes, I\u2019m willing to work with him but only if he cuts ties with Ruto and backs my candidature,\u201d Karua said. \u201cI admired Raila for his firmness in the past, but now he seems to have softened and is supporting a regime responsible for harming many young people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Turning to the upcoming 2027 general election, Karua said the opposition would not sit back and allow the government to control the process unchecked. She revealed that the opposition intends to establish a parallel tallying centre to safeguard the electoral outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe allowed them to reconstitute the IEBC without our input, but this time we\u2019ll be extremely vigilant,\u201d she said. \u201cThe United Opposition will have its own electoral commission to ensure fairness.
