Nairobi, August 13- The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed a fine of KSh6.45 million (USD 50,000) on Kenya over safety and security breaches during a CHAN (African Nations Championship) qualifier against Morocco at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from CAF\u2019s Disciplinary Board, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) violated several safety and security rules during the TotalEnergies CHAN fixture, prompting concerns about crowd control and stadium safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Disciplinary Board found Kenya guilty and fined them USD 50,000. Kenya has been warned that repeated failure to comply with CAF\u2019s safety and security standards could lead to their national team\u2019s home matches being moved to another venue,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAF directed FKF to implement urgent corrective actions, including deploying adequate security personnel inside and outside the stadium and enforcing strict road closures on match days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other sanctions from the board included a KSh650,000 (USD 5,000) fine for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for breaching Media Regulations after failing to present their head coach at the mandatory pre-match press conference before their game against the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) was also fined USD 5,000 (KSh650,000) for their players\u2019 misconduct during Morocco\u2019s clash with Kenya. However, half of this amount\u2014USD 2,500 (KSh325,000)\u2014is suspended, provided no similar offences occur for the rest of CHAN 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
