Nairobi, September 4- The Ministry of Education has introduced new guidelines on school activities during the third term as institutions prepare for the 2026 national examinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a circular dated September 3, Basic Education Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa directed schools to limit social, co-curricular and external activities during the examination period to minimise disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) will no longer be held in the third term and must instead take place during the first or second term. Prize-giving ceremonies, thanksgiving services and special prayer days for candidates have also been moved to the second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Schools have been barred from holding prayer sessions involving parents, visitors or other outsiders during examinations, although internal worship led by chaplains and teachers will continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ministry also cancelled annual leave for education officers during the examination period and directed regional, county and sub-county education officials to ensure schools follow the new measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The KCSE examinations will run from October 19 to November 20, while KPSEA, KJSEA and other national assessments will take place between October 26 and 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
