Nairobi, September 7- Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has died at the age of 77.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi announced his death on Monday, September 7, saying he passed away at around 8am at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, where he had been receiving treatment for a heart condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Mr Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan,\u201d Ndejembi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Vice President conveyed his condolences to President Hassan, her family, relatives and friends, as well as the people of Tanzania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that funeral arrangements had begun in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hafidh Ameir Hassan was a Tanzanian agriculturalist who became the country\u2019s First Gentleman after his wife assumed the presidency in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The couple married in 1978 and had four children, three sons and a daughter. Their daughter, Mwanu Hafidh Ameir, is also a politician and currently serves in the Zanzibar House of Representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
