Nairobi, September 18- Twenty-two people are receiving treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) after an oil tanker caught fire along the Eldoret-Turbo Road in Uasin Gishu. Eleven of the victims are in the intensive care unit, with seven suffering burns covering more than 25 per cent of their bodies, while others sustained facial and body burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tanker, which was carrying petrol and diesel, reportedly collided with another vehicle before losing control and crashing along the road. Several people who rushed to the scene to collect spilled fuel were caught up in the ensuing fire. Two victims were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii visited the injured and warned motorists and members of the public against approaching accident scenes involving fuel tankers due to the risk of fire.
