Nairobi, September 22- Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has handed over the leadership of the Jubilee Party to his deputy, Fred Matiang\u2019i, as the party prepares for its National Delegates Convention (NDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uhuru said the transition was in line with the recent High Court ruling that bars retired presidents from holding formal leadership positions in political parties beyond six months after leaving office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the handover on Tuesday, September 22, Uhuru said he would remain a member of Jubilee and take up a senior advisory role within the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He described Jubilee as his political home and said he would continue offering guidance to the party\u2019s leadership and participating in its affairs, despite stepping down from the top position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uhuru also called on the party to begin preparations for the 2027 General Election, including discussions on its leadership and political strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former President also criticised President William Ruto for continuing to refer to his administration years after taking office. Uhuru questioned why Ruto continued to invoke his name instead of focusing on governing the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
