Nairobi, September 22- Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he continues to believe that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga won the 2022 presidential election. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during a recent public engagement, Uhuru said his position on the disputed election outcome had not changed, maintaining that Odinga secured victory in the August 2022 poll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
William Ruto was officially declared the winner of the election by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), narrowly defeating Odinga. Ruto received about 50.5 per cent of the vote, while Odinga garnered approximately 48.8 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Odinga challenged the results at the Supreme Court, arguing that the electoral process had been compromised. However, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition and upheld Ruto\u2019s victory in September 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uhuru had backed Odinga\u2019s presidential bid after publicly endorsing him as his preferred successor ahead of the 2022 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
