Nairobi, October 29- The government has proposed a KSh 20 billion salary and allowances package in a bid to end the ongoing strike by university lecturers that has disrupted learning in public universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The offer covers the 2025\u20132029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and follows the rejection of an earlier KSh 11.96 billion proposal. The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) had sought approximately KSh 98 billion, citing demands for higher basic salaries, house allowances and improved working conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The proposed package is expected to form the basis of further negotiations between the government and university staff unions. However, the dispute will only be resolved once the parties agree on the terms and lecturers resume work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
