Nairobi, November 4- The World Bank has called on the Kenyan government to strengthen its fight against corruption, warning that the vice continues to undermine economic growth and increase the cost of borrowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its latest Kenya Economic Update released on Wednesday, the institution estimated that corruption and collusion cost the country approximately 2 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report also raised concerns over governance challenges, which it said were limiting opportunities for faster and more inclusive economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The World Bank, however, revised its 2026 economic growth forecast for Kenya upwards to 4.6 per cent, from an earlier projection of 4.3 per cent, following stronger-than-expected performance in the first half of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo said the government was implementing reforms aimed at improving transparency, including digitising procurement processes and strengthening conflict-of-interest regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
