Nairobi, March 19- Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has accused President William Ruto’s administration of being involved in her impeachment.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday evening, Mwangaza claimed she was removed from office because she refused to submit to political forces that allegedly wanted to exploit her position for personal gain. She argued that her unwillingness to compromise her principles made her a target of the current government and insisted that her impeachment was politically driven rather than based on valid reasons.
Mwangaza dismissed the process as illegitimate, asserting that male politicians manipulated the system to push her out. She maintained that her removal did not reflect the will of the people but was instead a calculated move by political rivals and the National Government to punish her for resisting external influence.
She emphasized her dedication to serving the people of Meru with integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout her tenure. Criticizing the Kenya Kwanza government, she accused it of disregarding the rule of law and ensuring that the voices of Meru residents who elected her were silenced.
Mwangaza vowed to pursue all legal options to clear her name and expose the alleged injustices against her. She also urged Kenyans, civil society organizations, and the international community to support her in condemning what she termed as a blatant abuse of power.
“In the coming days, I will explore all legal and constitutional avenues to challenge this injustice while continuing to engage with Meru residents to ensure their voices are heard,” she stated.
