Nairobi, March 20- President William Ruto has announced significant changes in the government, including a reshuffle of key Principal Secretaries (PSs) as part of an ongoing reorganization of his administration.
In one of the most notable adjustments, long-serving Education PS Belio Kipsang has been reassigned to the Immigration and Citizen Services department. Kipsang, who has held various roles in the Education Ministry for years, will now oversee immigration matters, a shift that signals a new focus for the department.
Meanwhile, Julius Bitok, who previously headed Immigration, has been moved to the Education Ministry, effectively swapping roles with Kipsang. Bitok’s transition comes amid ongoing education sector reforms, including the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and higher education financing changes.
Another key change involves Edward Kisiang’ani, who has been removed from his position as the Principal Secretary for ICT. He has now been appointed as a senior advisor to the President’s Economic Council, a move that suggests a realignment of expertise within Ruto’s inner circle. Kisiang’ani, a political analyst and former university lecturer, is expected to contribute to shaping economic policies.
More notable nominees include Dr Jane Kare Imbunya for the State Department for Public Service & Human Capital Development and Ms Regina Akoth Ombam for the State Department for Trade.
Others include Mr Cyrell Wagunda Odede (Public Investments and Assets Management) Dr Caroline Wanjiru Karugu (East African Community Affairs), Dr Oluga Fredrick Ouma (Medical Services) and Mr Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim (National Goverment Coordination)
More updates are expected as the newly appointed officials settle into their roles.
