Nairobi, June 23-The family of the late X blogger Albert Ojwang is raising alarm after more than KSh 500,000 meant for his burial and family support reportedly vanished from his father’s M-Pesa account.

Ojwang’s death in police custody sparked national outrage and widespread calls for justice. In the wake of the tragedy, thousands of Kenyans rallied behind his family, contributing funds through comedian Eric Omondi’s Sisi kwa Sisi initiative.

But in a new twist, the family now says the money has mysteriously disappeared. In a video shared by YouTuber Clinton Chirangah Shim, Ojwang’s uncle, Polycarp Odhiambo, said the ordeal has deepened the family’s pain.

“A few days ago, my brother (Ojwang’s father) tried to withdraw the funds but did not have his ID. When he went to Safaricom for help, he found that even his own Ksh 17,000 was gone. A statement revealed names of people who had withdrawn the money—over KSh 500,000 had vanished,” Odhiambo said.

He claimed the funds in question had all been raised through the Sisi kwa Sisi platform. In the same clip, Ojwang’s father is seen visibly shaken and in tears as the reality of the loss sinks in.

The incident mirrors another recent case involving Boniface Kariuki, a hawker shot during protests, whose fundraising effort through the same platform also faced controversy.
