Nairobi, October 6- Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has stepped down from President William Ruto’s Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Public Protests.

Odhiambo had been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Panel, which comprised prominent Kenyans recognized for their significant contributions to the promotion of the rule of law and human rights.

The Panel’s proposed role was to reform the country’s existing legal and institutional framework on victim reparations — a system that has long fallen short in addressing public concerns over police brutality and the victimization of protesters during demonstrations.

“In keeping with my oath of office, I must safeguard the Law Society of Kenya’s steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law against any and all adversaries or detractors,” Odhiambo stated, reaffirming LSK’s resilience in defending justice throughout the country’s history.
