Nairobi, January 13- Chief Justice Martha Koome has officially sworn in Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u and Chief Magistrate Everlyne Olwande as the newest members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) during a brief ceremony at the JSC offices in Nairobi.
Justice Ndung’u was elected by her fellow Supreme Court judges to serve as the Commission’s representative for the Supreme Court, succeeding the late Justice Mohammed Ibrahim, who passed away in December 2025. The election was conducted in line with the Judicial Service Act, which requires a replacement nominee within 21 days of a vacancy. Meanwhile, Olwande takes up the seat on the JSC representing magistrates.
Justice Ndung’u, who has sat on the Supreme Court since 2011 and is recognized for her contributions to constitutional interpretation and human rights, also chairs key internal Judiciary committees. The JSC, which plays a vital role in judicial governance under the Constitution, includes members from various judicial and public offices, with the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary serving as its secretary.
