Nairobi, October 15- Ida Odinga has reassured Kenyans that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Oburu Oginga is doing well and taking time to recover on the advice of his doctors.
Speaking on Thursday, October 15, during the first anniversary commemoration of her late husband, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, at Migwena Cultural Grounds in Bondo, Siaya County, Ida said Oburu had asked her to convey a message about his condition.
She explained that doctors had advised the Siaya Senator to rest and avoid attending large, potentially rowdy public gatherings as he continues his recovery.
Ida also appealed to mourners to remain focused on the purpose of the gathering, saying the event was meant to honour Raila’s life and legacy.
She noted that the memorial brought together family members, friends and supporters who had gathered to remember the former Prime Minister, who died in India on October 15, 2025, aged 80.
Oburu’s health has attracted public attention in recent days, prompting ODM officials to dismiss reports circulating on social media about his condition. Party leaders have maintained that he is recovering and needs time to regain his strength before resuming his regular public engagements.
