Nairobi, February 12- Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his wife, Susan Wangari, have been convicted of fraud in connection with the irregular awarding of a Sh588 million road construction tender.
Also found guilty are Charles Chege and Beth Wangeci, the directors of Testimony Enterprises—the company that received the tender—along with several county officials.
Delivering the verdict, Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki upheld the prosecution’s case after previously ruling that the accused had a case to answer.
Waititu and his co-accused faced multiple charges, including fraud, conflict of interest, money laundering, abuse of office, and dealing with suspect property, stemming from allegations that the tender was fraudulently awarded to a company linked to Waititu’s family.
