Nairobi, February 18- Tanzanian socialite Hamisa Mobetto has officially tied the knot with footballer Aziz Ki, who plays for Tanzania’s Yanga FC and represents Burkina Faso’s national team. Despite his professional affiliations, Aziz Ki is a citizen of Ivory Coast.
The couple celebrated their union over the past weekend with both a traditional and Islamic wedding, held on Saturday, February 16, and Sunday, February 17. However, one glaring absence was that of the footballer’s family, who reportedly did not approve of the marriage and chose not to attend.
Aziz Ki’s mother, Anata Ki, expressed her disappointment, revealing that she was informed about the wedding at the last minute. She had requested a postponement to allow her time to plan her trip to Tanzania, but her appeal was not considered. Additionally, she questioned Hamisa’s decision to marry her son without first meeting his family.
Taking to Instagram, Mama Aziz Ki openly criticized the role of Hersi Said, the president of Yanga FC, who allegedly took on the role of an elder during the wedding. She condemned this as inappropriate and unacceptable.
“As a family, we were not informed about this wedding,” she stated. “This young man, Hersi, is a great liar before God. He is not the one to arrange my son’s wedding. He is just a poor leader who wants, by any means, to keep my son in Tanzania.”
She continued her message, emphasizing that she could not recognize a wedding that took place without her presence. She also questioned how a woman could marry a man without knowing his family.
“The boy has many uncles—why would you be the one preparing his wedding? You are not part of my family, and you never will be. I only found out about this through social media. Despite everything, I congratulated my son, but he only informed me afterward. Unfortunately, I was away on a duty mission in Dakar.”
While Hamisa and Aziz Ki have now formalized their union, the absence of his family and his mother’s strong disapproval have cast a shadow over the celebrations.
