Nairobi, June 20- Bonfire Adventures founder and CEO Simon Kabu has secured a legal victory against his estranged wife, Sarah Njoki, in a defamation case filed over her alleged damaging statements on social media.
The court ruled in Kabu’s favor, barring Njoki from making or sharing any defamatory remarks about him across social platforms. The decision follows Kabu’s petition, filed through lawyer Judith Kamoing’, seeking redress for what he termed as malicious and false statements that had harmed his personal and professional reputation.
In the petition, Kabu had asked Justice Janet Mulwa to compel Njoki to issue a public apology and retract the offensive posts via the same platforms they were initially published. He also sought damages for libel, emotional distress, and damage to his reputation, calling for aggravated and exemplary compensation to reflect what he described as deliberate and reckless actions.
“The defendant should compensate the plaintiff for mental anguish and embarrassment suffered,” the court was told.
Kabu further requested a permanent injunction to prevent Njoki from publishing any additional defamatory content, whether through blogs, social media, or press engagements, and called for the removal of all past defamatory posts.
The two, who co-founded Bonfire Adventures in 2007, are currently undergoing divorce proceedings and have been judicially separated.
