Nairobi, August 18- President William Ruto has warned lawmakers accused of soliciting and receiving bribes that they will be arrested and prosecuted, regardless of rank or party.

Speaking on Monday during a joint parliamentary group meeting between Kenya Kwanza Alliance and ODM, Ruto lashed out at MPs and Senators after reports that committees were demanding bribes to influence legislation.

“I get raw intelligence. Some of you have been collecting money in the name of Parliament, but it ends up in your pockets. We are not going to shame you; we will apprehend you,” he said.

The President pointed to recent cases, including allegations that MPs pocketed up to Ksh10 million each to pass the Anti-Money Laundering Bill, while one senator is said to have received Ksh150 million to sway a decision.

Ruto decried the erosion of Parliament’s credibility, warning that the culture of graft must end. He vowed that no leader—whether from the ruling coalition or the opposition—would be spared as the government takes decisive action against corruption.
