Nairobi, October 6- Kenyans are set to witness a spectacular celestial event on the morning of Tuesday, October 7, 2025, as a Supermoon appearing larger and brighter than usual—illuminates the sky.

The moon will reach its full phase around 6:47 a.m. East Africa Time, but the best view will be just before sunrise. In Nairobi, moonset will occur at approximately 5:25 a.m., offering early risers a breathtaking sight before dawn.

A Supermoon occurs when the full moon aligns with the point in its orbit closest to Earth, known as the perigee, making it appear bigger and more luminous.

Excitement has already spread online, with one Facebook post reading: “Hunter’s Moon, The First Supermoon of 2025. Date: October 7, 2025. Get ready for a magical night sky!”

Traditionally called the Hunter’s Moon, this full moon marked the season when Native American tribes prepared for winter by hunting and storing food.

The celestial display offers a gentle reminder of the beauty of nature unfolding above our daily routines so set an early alarm, step outside, and enjoy the show.
