Nairobi, October 16- Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o has touched many Kenyans with an emotional tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away while receiving treatment in India.

Reports indicate that Raila collapsed during his morning walk abroad, a sudden loss that sent waves of grief across Kenya and the continent.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the Black Panther actress reflected on the close friendship between Raila and her father, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, describing the late leader as more than a political icon but also a cherished family friend.

“I join Kenyans in mourning the passing of the great Hon. Raila Odinga. I knew him up close as one of my father’s dearest friends, and also as a hero to the nation,” Lupita wrote.

She went on to recall how Raila was deeply involved in her family’s life, standing with them through both joyous occasions and difficult moments.

“He was there for my dad and our family during times of celebration and of grief. He shared our milestones, and we shared his,” she added.

Lupita accompanied her tribute with a touching photo of Raila and her father in conversation at a past public event a moment that captured the warmth and mutual respect that defined their long friendship.
