Nairobi, February 16- Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has addressed growing speculation about his political direction, dismissing circulating claims in a post on X and urging the public to ignore misleading narratives.
“Not everything needs an explanation. The truth will reveal itself in due time,” Ali wrote, signaling that his next political steps will become clear while cautioning against what he termed as misleading narratives.
His remarks come as he formally breaks ranks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and aligns himself with the United Opposition.
The announcement was made during a rally in Roysambu, where Rigathi Gachagua revealed that opposition leaders had settled on Ali as their preferred candidate for the coastal seat.
“Mohammed Ali will be our candidate for Mombasa governor. We have agreed as leaders, and we will work together to ensure victory,” Gachagua said, adding that consultations are ongoing to determine the party Ali will use, in collaboration with leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka.
Ali welcomed the endorsement, expressing confidence in his bid and pledging to address long-standing issues in Mombasa.
“I am ready for this journey. Mombasa deserves better leadership, and I will not be intimidated. We must deal with cartels and restore order,” he said.
His departure from UDA follows a series of internal disagreements, with Ali previously accusing party officials of intolerance and attempts to sideline his political ambitions as he positions himself for the 2027 race.
