Nairobi, January 22- Michael Macharia Njiri, popularly known as DJ Brownskin, has been acquitted of charges linked to the death of his wife, Sharon Njeri Mwangi. The ruling was delivered by a Milimani Magistrate’s Court, which found that the prosecution failed to prove its case to the required legal standard.
The court stated that there was insufficient evidence to show that DJ Brownskin either encouraged or assisted his wife to take her own life on July 29, 2022, at their home in Kariobangi South. Prosecutors had argued that he did nothing to stop the act despite being present.
It was also alleged that DJ Brownskin watched as his wife consumed a poisonous substance and later deleted videos and other material related to the incident from his phone. However, the magistrate ruled that these claims were not supported by strong or conclusive evidence.
As a result, the court dismissed all charges against him, concluding that the prosecution had not proven beyond reasonable doubt that he was criminally responsible for his wife’s death.
