Nairobi, March 27- Delegates aligned to the “Linda Ground” faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) gathered in Nairobi for a parallel National Delegates Convention marked by celebrations, music and political mobilisation.

The meeting, held at Jamhuri Grounds, brought together party supporters and leaders backing the Linda Ground initiative, with attendees arriving in large numbers and engaging in songs and dance as the convention got underway. The gathering is taking place at the same time another faction within the party is holding its own meeting elsewhere, highlighting the ongoing divisions within ODM.

The convention comes amid a deepening leadership dispute that has split the party into rival camps with differing views on the party’s direction and political alliances. The Linda Ground group has been pushing grassroots mobilisation and consultations with delegates across the country as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structures and shape its strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Party officials and delegates are expected to discuss key organisational matters and the future of the party during the convention, even as tensions continue to play out publicly between competing factions within the ODM leadership.
