Nairobi, September 18- Media personality Oga Obinna has sparked discussion after proposing a law to punish women who knowingly mislead men into believing they are the biological fathers of children who are not theirs.
In a video shared on Instagram, Obinna suggested that women found guilty of making false paternity claims should be required to refund all the money the men spent raising the children, including school fees, medical expenses and other costs. He further proposed a minimum five-year prison sentence for those unable to repay the money.
The proposal has drawn mixed reactions from Kenyans online. While some supported the idea, arguing that men should not bear financial responsibility under false pretences, others raised concerns about the potential impact on children caught in paternity disputes. Some commenters also called for DNA testing to become routine.
Obinna also suggested that women who deliberately make false accusations of sexual or gender-based violence should face penalties similar to those that the accused would have faced if convicted.
