Nairobi, October 1- The Social Health Authority (SHA) has given healthcare providers an additional 14 days to complete the contracting process for the 2026–2029 cycle.

The new deadline is October 14, following the expiry of existing contracts on September 30. During the extension, hospitals that accept the new arrangement will continue serving SHA beneficiaries under their existing contracts.

SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Mwangangi said facilities must accept, sign and return the 14-day extension agreement through the e-contracting platform within three days.

Hospitals that do not accept the extension have been directed to coordinate with SHA county managers to transfer patients receiving ongoing treatment to contracted facilities.

SHA will also hold HAKIKA contracting clinics across all counties from October 5 to assist healthcare providers in completing the process. So far, 10,006 providers have expressed interest and are at various stages of contracting.
