Nairobi, Kenya, November 18- The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed as false claims circulating online that detectives arrested two suspects for breaking into the State House in Mombasa and sleeping in President William Ruto’s bed.
The fake reports alleged that the suspects entered the State House through an open window to experience the comfort of the president’s king-size bed. According to the false claims, cooks alerted guards after hearing snoring sounds from the president’s bedroom, although no items were reported stolen or damaged.
The DCI clarified that the suspects were not involved in any State House break-in. Instead, they were apprehended on November 11, 2024, along Digo Road in Mombasa by officers from the Central Police Station. The arrests followed a tip-off from concerned citizens who suspected the two of handling stolen goods.
A raid at the suspects’ residence in the Rio Building led to the recovery of stolen items, including 51 mobile phones, several laptops, and other valuables worth over Ksh 1.2 million. The suspects, aged 20 and 29, are now in custody as investigations continue.
The DCI emphasized that the reports of a State House incident were entirely fabricated and urged the public to disregard such misinformation.
